Teleconverters

If you are on a budget you can like me, then buy a teleconverter to get those extra mm to you lens.

I have 2 teleconverters the Nikon TC14IIE and the Nikon TC17IIE.

With the TC14:

  • You get x1.4 on focal length
  • You lose 1 stop
  • A little sharpness (I think it’s difficulty to specify and amount so I just say a little bit)

I use this TC with those lenses:

  • Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8 – It then becomes a 98-280mm f/4
  • Nikon AF-S 105mm f/2.8 Macro – It then becomes a  158mm f/4
  • Nikon AF-S 300mm f/2.8 – It then becomes a 420mm f/4

With the TC17:

  • You get x1.7 on focal length
  • You lose 1 1/2 stop
  • Some sharpness (I think it’s difficulty to specify and amount so i just say some)
  • I would prefer to use this TC only on primes

I use this TC with this lense:

  • Nikon AF-S 300mm f/2.8 – It then becomes a 510mm f/4,8

I also found out that there is something wrong with the EXIF data with the Nikon AF-S 300 + TC17 combo.

It tells me that it has a focal length of 700mm… year I wish… I can see around the net that this a known issue…

Hey Nikon please go fix this!
